Important Contraindications and Retinoid Safety
Topical retinoic acid is an active pharmaceutical substance. Please review the clinical safety directives below prior to initiating treatment.
Pregnancy Contraindication
Topical tretinoin and hydroquinone are strictly contraindicated during pregnancy, planned conception, and lactation. Discontinue immediately if pregnancy is suspected.
Mandatory Sun Protection
Retinoids accelerate cellular turnover and increase UV vulnerability. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen every morning and reapply as directed during sun exposure.
Acclimatization & Side Effects
Mild peeling, dryness, and erythema are expected during weeks 1–4. Introduce therapy every 2–3 nights initially. Avoid AHA, BHA, or harsh scrubs while adapting.
Application Buffering Method (Sandwich Technique)
If you experience dryness, redness, or tightness during the initial weeks, utilize this three-step buffering method to minimize irritation.
Cleanse and Moisturize
Wash gently with a mild cleanser. Apply a light layer of plain moisturizer to damp skin, then allow 15 minutes to dry completely.
Apply Pea-Sized Amount
Dispense a single pea-sized drop for the entire face. Smooth evenly, keeping clear of eyelids, nostrils, and lips.
Seal and Protect
Allow 5 minutes to absorb, then apply a second layer of moisturizer over top. Always apply broad-spectrum SPF 50+ each morning.
